The Koidu New Sembehun City Council (KNSCC), with support from the European Union, has successfully concluded a two-day intensive training workshop designed to strengthen the leadership capacity and rights awareness of council staff, councillors, and community stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training formed part of the ongoing EU-funded project, \u201cEnhancing Local Economic Development and Service Delivery in Koidu New Sembehun City Council.\u201d The project seeks to promote good governance, inclusive participation, and improved service delivery through capacity building and institutional strengthening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the course of two days, participants drawn from various sectors\u2014including core council staff, political leaders, traditional authorities, advocacy groups, the Traders\u2019 Union, and the media, engaged in interactive sessions that covered a wide range of governance and development issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delivering his opening remarks, His Worship Komba Matthew Sam, Mayor of Koidu New Sembehun City Council, emphasized the importance of the training as a strategic investment in the human capital of the council and its partners. He noted that the exercise reflects the council\u2019s commitment to promoting professionalism, deepening institutional relationships, and ensuring effective service delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCapacity building is at the heart of sustainable development. This training is part of our council\u2019s ongoing efforts to empower staff and stakeholders with the knowledge and skills required to serve the people of Koidu more effectively,\u201d Mayor Sam stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lead facilitator, Mr. Adams Tommy, delivered comprehensive sessions on a variety of topics including the formation of local councils, the roles and responsibilities of both the political and administrative arms of local governance, decentralization, leadership development, socio-economic rights, education, human rights advocacy, and legal frameworks to strengthen youth networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants commended the training for its practical relevance and interactive approach, describing it as an eye-opener that will enhance collaboration between the council and community stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EU-supported project continues to provide strategic opportunities for strengthening governance structures in Koidu, with the ultimate goal of improving local economic development and delivering quality services to residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
