Komba Sam is the Mayor of Koidu New Sembehun City Council, a city with over 126,000 inhabitants. He became a mayor since 7th<\/sup> March 2018 through Sierra Leone\u2019s national local council elections. Komba has served as Mayor for about six years due to his reelection in 2023 national elections, making him the first mayor to have won two elections to serve for 10 years since the establishment of local councils in Sierra Leone.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Prior to his coming into national politics, Mayor Sam served as Head Teller and later promoted to a customer service manager and head of operations at Ecobank, Bo branch in Sierra Leone (20142018). In 2013, he was assigned to the council for internship while studying and had the opportunity to serve as a finance clerk.In his academic pursuits, he participated in much student politics, including his district students\u2019 union politics and service provisions as a student body. He is a defined socialite, characterised by a strong sense of leadership. Mayor Sam’s interest in politics started when he was at senior secondary school and was nurtured at university. He served as a school prefect of Bo Government Secondary School in 2007. Students\u2019 Secretary General (2013). Chairman of OBBA at Njala University Bo campus (2012) and National Vice President of OBBA (2012\/2013).\u00a0 As a mayor, he has received several awards in recognition of his commitment to serve and developments achieved. In 2020, \u201cChief Rider\u201d Commercial Motor Bikes Riders Union Kono, 2021, \u201cMost Influential Politician\u201d Awarded by Sierra Kono Entertainment, 2022, \u201cPeace Ambassador\u201d from Preach Peace Sierra Leone, 2024, Champion for the promotion of societal development from the Kono District most Prestigious male award, and \u201cA all-time contributor towards educational development in Kono, by Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education in Kono District.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
